Monday, 08 April 2013 Revlon Nearly Naked:
FOUNDATION
(colour 150 nude & 170 natural beige):
Fragrance: No fragrance
Consistency: Very light & runny
Coverage: No exact colour that matches my skin tone so I had to try 2 colours and mix them together. 1 layer gives a very light coverage and helps even out skin tone, 2 layers gives a light-medium dewy finish but still looks very natural, slightly more opaque than a tinted moisturiser
Longevity: Did not last long on me
POWDER
(colour 020 light pale):
Fragrance: No fragrance
Consistency: Soft and very light
Coverage: Light enough to help matte the foundation, does not look cakey

From the last foundation (Maybelline FITME) review I have decided to always use primers for future reviews as I always do when wearing makeup... I have oily combination skin. So bearing that in mind remember the way this foundation works for me, may work differently for you.
The coverage for 'Revlon Nearly Naked' is very light weight and can be compared to 'Sonia Kashuk Tinted Moisturiser'. It can be buildable but not to full coverage... more of a light to medium finish. I like that the foundation is very natural however the colours that are available is very limited. I had to buy 2 colours (one shade up) to mix together in order to get a colour near to my skin shade. I understand that in the US they have more shades so it's a shame that we do not have all the shades here in the UK.
The finish look was not bad at all when using both shades mixed together and it did look natural however after 10 hours it did not hold that well. I could see the slight pink undertones that I get near my nose area and mouth.
I also highly recommend Revlon to use pumps especially for light weight foundations as they tend to be more runny and thin so if you are not careful it can spill all over the place!
Hopefully this has worked better for others... Have you tried it and does it work well for you?

I know some
of you may be thinking 'why didn't I mention the brand before?'... Mostly
because people often tend to overlook brands that are not in the mainstream so
I wanted everyone to read this review and possibly even try the product before
ruling it out.
My type of skin is
sensitive and combination oily. With most face wipes I tend to find that they
do not do a great job with taking off most of the residue off of my face.
Within time the wipes that I have previously tried dry out leaving the sheets
in the packet semi moist however with the Kirkland wipes they keep the moisture
right to the very last sheet.
The
Kirkland wipes are quilted and contain Chamomile, Triple Tea Complex and
Vitamin E. Most importantly the wipes are alcohol free, oil free and
hypoallergenic.
I am not stating
that the way this product has worked for me will do the same for everyone else
as each individual have different types of skin and may react differently to
certain ingredients. If you are not currently pleased with the face wipes you
are currently using or would like to try something better, then I recommend
trying this out. Remember to always do a test patch first on the inside of your
arm.
If you can
recommend any other face wipes that you are currently loving please email me or
comment below. I would love to hear your recommendations xoxo

From the pictures you can clearly see that the mascara has lasted throughout the day. My eyelashes are quite long but very sparse and straight. I have to constantly curl my eyelashes if I want to apply mascara and with some formulas it doesn't help keep the curl. Instead, the mascaras tend to fall flat within time causing the curl to go.
However with the 'Rocket Volum' Express' mascara it has done a great job to add volume and keep the curl. With this waterproof mascara it also does not flake onto my cheeks and rub. I'm not sure whether or not if the non-waterproof 'Rocket Volum' Express' mascara has the same effect however for those who have lashes like mine, this mascara will definitely work for you!

Ohhhhh Shiznit!!! My face looks like it has been smothered in frying oil in the picture taken at 23:00 hahaha!!!
FYI this product was tested without any primer or setting spray.
At 13:00 right after applying the foundation, powder and concealer my face looks flawless! I'm grateful that I do not have bad acne or scars so the products were enough to help me gain that natural look. I definitely agree... The product doesn't "change me, it doesn't hide me... it does however FIT ME". The colour is bang on point which I am really surprised about as not many high street brands match my yellow undertone. So well done Maybelline =) There are many shades available and this time Maybelline have considered the other types of undertones people may have for example; yellow, cool etc.
I have combination oily skin and it's a shame that the foundation is only suitable for combination dry skin. If only Maybelline made the product suitable for my type of skin... then it would have been perfect!!! Maybe that's what they should try consider next time. Just look at the state of me in the pic taken at 23:00!!! That is too much shine for comfort! Maybe I'll give this another go with primer and setting spray. If that still don't work then the only thing I'll stick to is the concealer.
Wednesday, 23 January 2013 Revlon Photoready:
Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer:
The
bottle itself is quite a reasonable size and you get 0.91 Fl Oz with a pump.
The product itself has a slight scent to it and the texture gives a smooth
silicone type of finish allowing smoother application for your
foundation/powder. Primers usually help the longevity of your makeup on your
face and help with oil/shine control. In my opinion Revlon Photoready Primer
does help slightly with oil/shine control and the longevity.
Revlon Photoready Makeup Foundation:
The
bottle is similar to the primer and has the pump on top of the bottle. The
amount of product you get is 1Fl Oz which is standard for foundation. The smell
is also mild and not to strong… I hate when a products scent is so strong that
it ends up giving me a headache. When the product is applied to your face it
feels slightly wet so you must give it a while for it to set and I highly
recommend setting it with powder after. The product gives a medium to full
coverage.
Revlon Photoready Concealer:
The concealer has a twist mechanism which is
great as it is easy to use however may not be the best when it comes to hygiene
as bacteria can be easily transferred. The smell like the other two products is
very mild. The concealer itself is quite thick so I would not recommend this
for people who need moisturising under their eyes leaving it looking cakey
causing you to look haggard. However for those with relatively moisturised skin
under the eyes this would be ideal as it gives great coverage and is exceptionally
good if you are on the go.
This
is the finish look once applied and was taken at 8:30am. Sorry about the poor
lighting!!!
The two
pictures above were taken at 5:30pm and that’s a good long 9 hours. Both sets
of pictures were taken before and after work without any touch-ups.
After A Few Hours:
The
primer is definitely not the best I’ve tried however for a high-street brand I
was quite impressed as it did help my makeup last throughout the day and
slightly helped with oil control as I have a really oily T-zone.
When
first applying the foundation it looked light on my skin but giving it a few
minutes for the product to oxidise it did gradually get darker and nearer to my
skin colour. With many high-street brands I find that it is often hard to find
a match for my skin colour (warm/yellow under tone) and I usually end up buying
two shades, one light and one the next step darker having to mix both. The
product is slightly dewy so for my T-zone I set it with loose powder. The
foundation with the use of the primer beforehand did help my makeup last long
however in the close-up picture at 5:30pm you can tell that my forehead is shiny.
In my opinion without the primer my oily skin would be definitely shining
through the makeup and not lasting at all. Good for those with combination
skin.
Monday, 28 May 2012 Argan Oil:
Since trying to grow out my hair I noticed I started to get split ends so
I decided to try out different products containing Argan oil.
I know that there are several ways to keep your hair healthy and it is
recommended to go to your salon/barber to get a haircut every 6 weeks or so.
However, as I am trying to grow out my hair I’m leaving it for around 3 months
before getting a trim. So to maintain healthy locks in that period of time, one
of the ways that I try to keep my hair healthy is to apply Argan oil to wet/dry
hair.
TRESemme Argan Oil Salon Shine Glossing Spray
TRESemme’s Argan Oil Salon Shine Glossing Spray is a ‘miss’ for me.
I
could tell straight from the very first spray that I didn’t like the product as
it smells of alcohol. By looking and giving the bottle a shake, you can tell
that the Argan oil has been watered down by other ingredients. However, the
spray nozzle gives a lovely soft mist leaving my hair with a glossy finish
whilst helping with any frizz or fly away hair. Overall I wouldn’t buy this
again.
V05 Miracle Concentrate With Argan Oil
My cousin had introduced me to this product and my first impression was that
this is more like an “oil” in comparison to TRESemme’s spray.
It has a floral & sweet scent which is much more pleasant and the
consistency was slightly thicker. The product itself does everything Argan oil
states that it should do to your hair which is great but the downfall is how
you have to apply the product. The bottle comes with a pipette that you squeeze
in order to suck in the oil through the tube and release to let it out.
Argan Oil Hair Treatment
Out of the three I would definitely buy this product again! This product is very similar to V05’s Miracle Concentrate in my opinion in terms of the finish it gives. The difference between the two is that this fragrance is more of a fresh scent. The texture is also a lot thicker and easier to apply as you can now tell where and how much oil is being used. The last difference is the pump which helps you to get the product out of the bottle with ease making less mess.
If you can get a hold of 100% PURE
Organic Argan Oil, I would definitely recommend purchasing some as it has NO
CHEMICALS but beware of IMITATIONS so make sure that you do your research
first.
Tuesday, 22 May 2012 Boots Natural Collection:
Here is the look I came
up with. Very natural and sun kissed...
A great look for the summer. (Sorry for the poor lighting of my finished
look)
The foundation I used was
Colour Foundation in Honey and Concealer in Medium.
As for the foundation it
states that it gives medium coverage for normal to combination skin and the Cover
Up Cream can be used to cover spots, blemishes and under-eye shadows. I have
used both products for 1 week or so and I haven’t broken out with spots so that’s
a good sign ^_^
Surprisingly I really
like the coverage of the foundation as it gives me a very light finish to my
skin and can be comparable to a tinted moisturiser. I always apply my base (foundation
& concealer) with a light hand using a brush to make it natural as possible
for my day to day look. I don’t like using foundation everyday especially if I’m
just out running errands so I use tinted moisturiser on most occasions. I would
definitely purchase their foundation and concealer again if I was short of cash
or my go-to tinted moisturiser was unavailable.

Rating 6/10
The Cover Up Concealer in
Medium has a hint of salmon colour which is good for correcting dark circles. In
my opinion it isn’t a good concealer for spots or bad blemishes as it is very
light weight in coverage.
Rating 4/10
Natural Collection’s Loose Powder in Warm Translucent is a
must have! I have a yellow undertone to my complexion and most
drugstore/highstreet brands are very light in colour leaving me look dull and
washed out. This ‘baby’ doesn’t do that to my finishing look. It is very light
weight and awesome for setting you foundation or concealer.
Rating 8/10
I tried out the Duo Eye Shadow in Mocha/Latte, Solo Eyeshadow in Milk Chocolate and Barley.
Considering price, the pigment
of Natural Collection’s eyeshadows is ok for a subtle look but forget it if you
want a dramatic effect.
Rating 5/10
Sun Tint Bronzing Powder
in Golden Glow is excellent for summer. I prefer using a matte bronzer without a
gold shimmer undertone however if that is the look you are going for this is a
good product for you.
Rating 4/10
These blushes give such a soft look to your
cheeks leaving them looking natural! The colours I got are Sweet Cheeks and Peach Melba. I usually use Estee
Lauder’s Signature Silky Powder Blush but it can be a bit pricey so now Blushed
Cheeks is now my go-to blush! I usually use matte colours on my
cheeks so YES I’ve got a new blush and it’s cheaper too!
Rating 8/10
Rating 8/10
As for Natural Collection’s Moisture Shine Lipstick in Rose Petal and Juicy Lip Gloss in Fondant, I’m not sure how to rate it. I don’t love it and I don’t hate it. Again it is light on the lips and not well pigmented.
Rating 6/10
Overall I think for the
price you’re paying for Natural Collection’s products isn’t that bad at all. As
I said before its great if you’re trying out makeup for the first time or if you
want a really simple everyday look so why not give it a go?! It has defo changed my opinion on cheap drugstore/highstreet brands!
